Evan Carroll Teaches How to Connect with Customers

Recently I was fortunate enough to attend Digital Branding Analytics Miami (#DBAmiami), a marketing conference organized by Florida International University. Each of the discussions I attended were relevant to my career and education, but I particularly enjoyed Evan Carroll’s presentation on “Connecting with Customers.” Evan Carroll is an author, keynote speaker and marketing technologist. His talk focused on teaching how social media can be a great tool to connect with your customers. If used correctly, you can create great content that your customers want to share. But if you’re just improve your information with a ‘buy my product’ message, it is a fast way to lose your follow, and you are not truly connecting with your customers. To help you make beneficial connections, Evan Carroll spoke of three simple and effective ways to connect with your customers and grow your base: The 3 R’s – Relationship – Responsiveness – Readiness.

I found this presentation especially interesting because some of my favorite marketing classes at FIU have centered around social media. I am intrigued by the causes, effects and analytics that you can gather in such a short time frame. I will look to use this information in my marketing career by putting forth this information into a successful social media plan for my business – and always remembering the 3 R’s.
